Would You Buy My Blog Book?
Posted on November 16, 2010
I have been quite flattered to receive many messages from people saying that it would be a great idea to publish a “Best of Bob’s Blog” book featuring what have been regarded as either the funniest and most controversial Blogs I have written over the last two and a half years of my life.
Rather painstakingly, I have been transferring my Blogs on to formatted word documents to correct the many spelling and grammar mistakes I have in my armoury, not least my long standing e before i problem, and mistakes with too, two and two, wander and wonder plus their and there amongst others. I have also noticed that when I go in to full scale rant mode that I have missed out whole words and used exclamation marks and question marks in the wrong places.
The problem with publishing this content (which is something I would love to do) is that there is cost associated with it, and I would like to get back the money I lay out if I can. I have been in conversations with an editor and a cartoonist who would create the work before passing it on to print, but obviously this doesn’t come cheap. I am not looking to make a huge profit or anything, but I also don’t want to delude myself, and end up with a load of books I don’t want and a further dent in recession hit bank account.
I have had various contact from publishers who have read my blog and would like to print it, but these are companies with various contractural ties full of false hope that I may well be the next Bill Bryson. Basically they take your money and produce a piece of crap you can’t sell. I am looking to use a local chap who enjoys the blog himself and feels he can represent it with good cartoon illustration, so anyone buying it will get a well presented good quality book for their cash.
If you are a regular reader of this Blog and you would pay between £7.00 and £10.00 for a ‘best of ‘ book please email me on bob@cbsrecruit.co.uk to let me know of you interest or add a comment below. Like I have said it is not about a profit it is more about personal achievement. If by some miracle it starts to make a profit I will give a percentage of profits to a charity decided by a Blog readers poll.
Many thanks
Bob

if your blogs were worthy of publication you wouldn't need to find funding.

The message above is probably a bit harsh but carries some truth. There is a lot of editing to do on these type of things to get them in to worthy print, as many of your blogs, as funny as they are, have been written abrubtly without you doing the basic spelling and grammar checks, that will take some sorting out. However, they are a good fun read and if you fancy printing them for self fulfillment why not do it through one of these companies who print as they sale rather than getting stuck with a large print number you can't shift. Good luck with it, which ever way you decide I will buy a copy.
Cheers, Paul
