Arrival On Holiday

We arrived on Holiday yesterday after a horrendous journey through France in the rain and heavy traffic.The first Saturday in august is known as "Black Saturday" because of the holiday season starting in the main French cities, and so it turned out. This blog is being written from a Hotel room in Poitiers where I have a wireless connection and maybe my last one for a while as we are away for 2 weeks. An abrupt end to the warm spell!!!

Summer came to a shuddering halt yesterday with ferocious localised downpours causing major disruption, but here is a funny thing, the videos below show me in my car at 6pm in Winklebury and 20 minutes later at George's cricket practice a mile down the road in Oakley where it was bone dry!!! That's British summertime in a nutshell!!

Sunny Sunday

Sunday was a gorgeous day, but it looks like summers brief visit may be over today as a storm approaches from the south. A Trip To The Rowbarge As Summer Continues

The brief interlude of Summer continued today and there was a hive of action at The Kennet and Avon Canal in Woolhampton, I took a stroll along with the boys in the sunshine, then had a not unpleasant, but not fantasic meal in The Rowbarge, but the fact that it was served up by the must wonderful looking Polish woman I have ever seen more than compensated for the mediocrity of the lunch.
